Course Objective

This course is focused on general properties of fecal indicator and pathogen bacteria, their effects on marine ecosystem and human health, legislation, regulation and standards, reference methods for indicator and pathogen bacteria in the marine environment

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn the general properties of fecal indicator and pathogen bacteria
2   To have knowlege of regulation and standards related to indicators and pathogens
3   To understand the methods of enumeration and detection of indicator and pathogen bacteria
4   To define the seawater-borne microbial diseases
5   To learn the microbial pathogens removal from wastewater and microbial response to disinfectants
