Course Objective

It is aimed to determinate the paleoecology properties of the Quaternary and deposition environment of this time in Turkey.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to distinguished the Quaternary glaciations features
2   to define the river systems in the Quaternary Period of earth processes
3   to define the palaeosol in the Quaternary Period of earth processes;
4   to define the evaporate in the Quaternary Period of earth processes;
5   to define the lake and lacustrine systems in the Quaternary Period of earth processes;
6   to understand the flora and vegetational changes in the Quaternary Period of earth processes

9 Vegetation and ecology of Gölhisar Lake Palaeovegetational change of the Quaternary in the Gölhisar Lake and ecological properties.
10 Vegetation and ecology of Sagalassos area Palaeovegetational change of the Quaternary in the Sagalassos area and ecological properties.
11 Vegetation and ecology of Eski Acıgöl area Palaeovegetational change of the Quaternary in the Eski Acıgöl area and ecological properties

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course is taught on a base of lecture and homework presentation and discussion. All the students are expected to attend and both the lecture and laboratory hours and take part in the discussion sessions. Besides, each student or group of students should present their homework topics in an open discussion session. Students are expected to prepare a homework report as well.

Assessment Criteria

The aim of this lecture is win the perspective of deposition environment of the Quaternary time and palaeocological changes of these environment in Anatolia for students. The success of students, midterm and final exams are measured by their success.
