Course Objective

It is aimed to define the palaeoclimate during the Cenozoic in Türkiye and to evaluate palaeoclimatic condition effects on the palaeovegetation.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The concept of geological time, to understand the palaeogeograpgy, palaeoclimate and palaeovegetation of the Eocene in Anatolia.
2   to understand the palaeogeograpgy, palaeoclimate and palaeovegetation of the Oligocenein Anatolia.
3   to understand the palaeogeograpgy, palaeoclimate and palaeovegetation of the Early-Middle Miocene in Anatolia.
4   to understand the palaeogeograpgy, palaeoclimate and palaeovegetation of the Late Miocene in Anatolia.
5   to understand the palaeogeograpgy, palaeoclimate and palaeovegetation of the Pliocene, Pleistocene and Quaternary in Anatolia.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course is taught on a base of lecture and homework presentation and discussion. All the students are expected to attend and both the lecture and laboratory hours and take part in the discussion sessions. Besides, each student or group of students should present their homework topics in an open discussion session. Students are expected to prepare a homework report as well.

Assessment Criteria

The aim of this lecture is win the perspective of paleogeographic differentiation, palaeoclimatic condition effects on the palaeoenvironment condition and vegetation during the Cenozoic in Anatolia. The success of students, midterm and final exams are measured by their success.
