Course Objective

The aim of this lesson is to understand plastic deformation of metals under the macroscopic scale by searching their micro scale deformation mechanisms.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To recognise dislocation behaviors according to cyrstal structures,
2   To recognise single cyrstal deformation behaviors,
3   To recognise deformation behavior differences between single- and polycyrstals,
4   To analysis the effects of internal factors on deformation behaviors of metals,

9 External factors( deformation temperature and rate, hydrostatic pressure etc. ), assignment.
10 Internal factors( dislocations, grain size, precipitations and particules, texture ), assignment.
11 Other factors( static and dynamic deformation aging, quenching, irradiating of atomic particules, etc.), assignment.
12 II.Mid-term exam.
13 Thermic activation, effect of temperature and strain rate on yield stresses in polycyrstals, assignment.
14 Effect of dislocation density and arrangement on the yield stress.
