Course Objective

The objective of the course is to give the students the basics of heat exchanger analysis

3   The knowledge about the design and the solution of problems in heat exchanger
4   Strengthening information about heat exchanger calculations

6 The e NTU method and comparison of TLMTD, P and e NTU methods
7 Thermal calculations of basic heat exchangers: Kern and Bell methods
8 Thermal calculations of regenerators
9 Thermal calculations of compact heat exchangers
10 Pressure drop in heat exchangers Pressure drop calculations in some heat exchangers
11 Material selection and strength calculations in heat exchangers

Presentations of the instructor, preparation of the assignments, presentation of the student
The course is taught in a lecture, class presentation and discussion format. All class members are expected to attend and both the lecture and seminar hours and take part in the discussion sessions. Besides the taught lecture, group presentations are to be prepared by the groups assigned for that week and presented to open a discussion session.
