Course Objective

The course aims to provide an introduction to problems of geological, archaeological, military, forensic, civil engineering, environmental and engineering applications basis in GPR methodology, and to parts of GPR applications in near surface investigations with a theoretical and practical understanding of the main techniques of principle investigation.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Describe the diffusion of the electromagnetic wave
2   Identify the necessary signal processing steps and interpretation using radargrams
3   Operate the amplitude and time-depth analysis
4   Produce the slice and volumetric presentations
5   Solve the near surface geophysical problems using ground penetrating radar method
6   Describe the modelling and tomographic approaches
7   Identify the problems in measuring and evaluation
8   Describe the radar softwares and radar data processing

One mid-term exam shall be made, 30 % of the mid-term exam, 20 % of the average of the homeworks and 50 % of the final exam would be the semester mark.
