Course Objective |
The chemistry and metabolism of carbohydrates were prominent matters of interest in the first part of the 20th century. The biological roles of carbohydrates are particularly important in the assembly of complex multicellular organs and organisms, which requires interactions between cells and the surrounding matrix. The course aims the structure, metabolism and biological roles of carbohydrates and their derivates as well as the diseases about glycobiology. |

Assessment Criteria |
Meaningful learning of the basic concepts given in presentations, association of concepts with each other, establishing the cause-result relationships and making comments by using the information available for problems and evaluating idea generation are carried out with mid-term and final exams, active participation to the lecture, homework. |
