Course Objective

This course uses and extends concepts from the introductory GIS course. It explores advanced problems and techniques in GI Science. Topics include, layer overlays, distance measurements and transformation, data management, spatial analysis, data quality, error, accuracy and precision. The vision of desktop mapping will be giving with using MapInfo Desktop GIS software. The course combines elements of system development with application areas. It provides principals of spatial data architectures, raster-vector database integration, decision support system and management information, AM/FM (Automated Mapping and Facility Management), some models and techniques, which can be used for resource management problems.
