Course Objective

This course aims to give information on the basis of fishing vessel design and to develop a conceptual understanding. Elements of this conceptual understanding can be identified as;
- Underlying creative philosophy for the design processes,
- Strategic applications of the design process developed for the fishing vessels,
- Tactical approaches for the design of special-type of fishing vessels,
- Structural design principles and
- Role of classification societies.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To realize and to be able to apply the synthesis process in the design of fishing vessels,
2   To be able to utilize all calculations of naval architecture and marine engineering starting from preliminary design till application design,
3   To be aware of the national and international laws and rules effective in the design and construction/building of fishing vessels.
4   To understand the role of classification societies in the process of design and construction, and to be able to communicate with them by means of adequate terminology.
