Course Objective

Reinforced concrete structural systems, which give service under different environmental conditions, are exposed to durability problems in terms of concrete and reinforcing steel. Rebar corrosion is thought to be most important factor determining the service life of the reinforced concrete structures. Consideration of the decomposition process of concrete and corrosion of steel is an important issue to determine service life safely. On the other hand, maintenance-repair-strengthening works have to be considered in terms of economy.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
