Course Objective

The main purpose of the lecture is to instruct the mechanics of wave motion which is the basic concept of coastal engineering. Teaching the wave generation and wave-current interaction are also purposed

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to explain basic concepts and equations in coastal engineering
2   Ability to designate wave types and ability to classify the waves
3   Ability to use small amplitude wave theory
4   Ability to explain finite amplitude wave theories
5   Ability to determine wave transformations in the coastal zone
6   Ability to explain basic concepts about current and ability to evaluate wave-current interaction
7   Ability to explain wind-wave interaction and ability to use wave forecasting methods
