Course Objective |
Hydraulics systems are designed with assumption of steady flows but the verification of their safety against waterhammer phenomenon is imperative. In the case of valve opening/closure and pump start up/failure the flow rate varies and this change results in excessive pressure waves named waterhammer. If the required precautions are not taken serious damages even the collapse of the system may occur. This subject which is not treated in undergraduate level is studied in details in graduate level. |
