HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING AND WATER RESOURCES

Course Objective

Some solutions to sediment transport by liquids can be obtained by empirical and semiempirical approaches. It is aimed to provide various approaches concerning the transport of sediments by pipes and in open channels. The different numerical methods used to solve relevant differential equations are outlined

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To provide the fundamentals of sediment transport
2   To provide the importance of sediment transport in engineering applications
3   To provide the illustrative examples related to sediment transport
4   To provide modern analysis methods of sediment transport
5   To interrelate the computed values with those observed in nature
