Course Objective

Hydrometric data, such as precipitation, stream flow, lake levels, and various water quality variables, consists of hydrologic and meteorological observations recorded in time at sites spatially distributed over geographic regions. These data may contain systematic and/or random errors in addition to sampling variations. Therefore, the main objective of this lecture is to learn about traditional probabilistic models and statistical procedures which can account for uncertainty in estimation of design event magnitudes and models that are commonly used in water resources engineering.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to collect, interpret, apply, and evaluate the data.
2   To be able to solve the problems by using appropriate research methods.
3   To be able to solve the problems by using appropriate research methods.
4   To be able to have a systematic way to export the current developments and his/her work to the groups in and out of the field as written, oral and visual communication effectively.
5   To be able to gain high-level skills in using research methods.
