Course Objective

To provide students to gain basic knowledge on work and workplace safety and occupational accidents so that they become aware of safe working conditions

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Show comprehension on the importance of work and workplace safety .
2   Explain legislation on work and workplace safety in general terms.
3   Identify dangers encountered in field.
4   List precautions to be taken when working with geodetic instruments.
5   Establish cause and effect relation for occupational accidents .

5 Safety threatening elements, occupational accidents and causes, biological and physical threats, natural threats in field
6 Safety threats in buildings: sanitary system, electricity, heating
7 Safety threats in buildings: sanitary system, electricity, heating
8 Mid-term week
9 Workplace safety, workplace regulation, geodetic instruments and their safekeeping
10 Workplace safety, workplace regulation, geodetic instruments and their safekeeping
11 Occupational diseases and their occurence; physical factors, natural factors in field, biological factors, measures against occupational diseases
12 Accident and injury; first aid and intervention, accident and injury analysis, determination of injury grade, effect of injuries on work force and economy, accident reports
