Course Objective

This course, intended to gain the competency to conduct research.

2   In theory, be able to recognize flaws in interior and exterior building materials
3   To understand the methods of heat treatment applied to the material
4   To apply part of the mechanical tests of materials

Course Contents

1 . The materials used in the art,Basic concepts of atomic structure,Basic concepts of solidification and melting
2 Crystal structures and crystal structure defects
3 Pure metal, Dec-phase or compound and solid solution Liquid is soluble in all proportions in each other, partially soluble, insoluble in the liquid and solid state to the other alloys in Solid state transformations
4 Phase laws and phase diagrams, iron - carbon phase diagram transformations
5 Heat treatments applied to steels, (smoothing, normalization, hardening, stress relieving, etc.).
6 Surface hardening methods
7 Midterm exam
8 Midterm exam
9 Non-destructive testing methods, visual inspection method, with the liquid penetrant inspection method, ultrasonic inspection method, X-ray examination method, the magnetic inspection method
10 Specimen sampling, molding, sanding, polishing and etching
11 Descaling and methods of measurement, tensile test stress strain curve obtained after
12 Fracture energy after the impact test. Fatigue test after the S-N diagram
13 Non-ferrous metal alloys and varieties
14 Composition and properties of oils and dyes
