Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to gain qualifications of the basic manufacturing processes by using hand tools, drills, lathes, milling machines and grinding machine tools.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To make the application process by using basic hand tools
2   To drill different types of hole by using drill bench
3   To make the process of lathing by using lathe machine
4   To make the process of milling by using milling machine
5   To make the process of grinding by using grinding machine
6   To be able to apply thread cutting processes with hand tools such as guides and threads.

11 Turning operations, facing and diameter turning
12 Turning operations, facing and diameter turning
13 Turning operations, grooving and drilling
14 Knurling pen, knurling types and knurling on the lathe
15 Taper turning, taper calculations

Assessment Criteria

At least 5 learning outcomes will be measured with midterm, homework and final exams, and the stage of the student in reaching these learning outcomes will be followed with the practices and weekly assignments.

1. It is compulsory to attend 70% of the theoretical courses and 80% of the applied courses.
2. It is obligatory to wear a work apron in workshop applications and to comply with the dress code while working in rotating benches.
3. It is obligatory to comply with the occupational safety rules and machine usage rules while working in the workshop.
