Course Objective

The purpuse of this lecture is, to teach students fundamental principles aimed at protection of consumer, basic institutions and notions relating to consumer law and make them have knowledge of measures aimed to protection of consumer and legal remedies.

1   To be able to clarify fundamental principles aimed at protection of consumer.
2   To be able to clarify basic notions and institutions relating to consumer law.
3   To be able to apprehend measures aimed at protection of consumer.
4   To be able to determine basic problems originating from consumer law.
5   To be able to acquire skill of solving problems originating from consumer law.
6   To be able to apprehend legal remedies in consumer law.
7   To be able to apprehend features of proceedings and judgment process at consumer courts.

1 Introduction, historical development, association with other law branches
2 The fundamental notions of consumer law: Consumer, treatment of consumer, dealer-supplier, goods, services etc.
3 Basic principles of consumer law
4 Unfair terms in consumer law
5 Supervision of unfair terms
6 Defective good, liability originating from defective good elective rights of consumer
7 Defective service, liability originating from defective service, elective rights of consumer
8 Consumer contracts: Installment selling, consumer loans, housing finance, prepaid housing selling
9 Contracts signed outside workplace, distance contracts
10 contracts relating to financial services, time share vacation contracts and long duration vacation service contracts, package tour contracts, subscription contracts
11 - Enlightenment of consumer, protection of consumer benefits - Commercial advertisement and unfair commercial practices
12 Midterm exam

14 -Consumer organizations -Administrative supervisions and sanctions
15 Legal remedies: Arbitration committee for consumer problems, Consumer courts
