Course Objective

Objective of this course is to search and analyse the duty, function, aim of criminal law, the place, the relationship with other law branches of criminal law, the fundamental principles, brief history and resorces of criminal law, practice area of criminal law rules, general crime theory and sanction theory in the framework of criminal law science.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To have basic criminal law knowledge in the framework of Turkish Criminal Code (General Provisions).
2   To acquire knowledge about general crime theory and sanction theory.
3   To practice the criminal law (general provisions) knowledge on vocational life.
4   To comprehend the differencies between crimes and other human acts.
5   To learn the sanctions of crime.

1 Definition, Conception and the task of criminal law term, function and objective of criminal law, the position of criminal law in the law system The position and the relations with other law branches of criminal law in the law system Supplementary fields of criminal law
2 The basic principles of criminal law in democratic state under the rule of law, the relations with other law branches of criminal law. Supplementary fields of criminal law
3 The chronological process of criminal law and it's effects on criminal liability, the sources of criminal law
4 Practice field of the criminal law rules in term of time
5 Practice field of the criminal law rules in terms of location and person
6 Introduction to general crime theorie
7 Structural elements of the crime
8 Structural elements of the crime (Objective and Subjective Elements of crime)
9 Contradiction to law and common features of excuse grounds
10 Excuse grounds in Turkish Criminal Law
11 Structural elements of the crime (Culpability-conditions of the culpability)
