Course Objective

This course mainly aims to discuss the relationships between architecture and cartoon which is crucial branch of art. Especially this course aims to make out civilian perceptional aspect as an alternative architectural reading on architectural area which is evaluated the official ideological publications on the humour and cartoon publications which are read everyone in society.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to research and describe civilian perceptional aspect of architecture
2   To be able to research the cartoon theories about architecture and to discuss in the context of art
3   To be able to practice alternative architectural reading while following daily civilian publishing
4   To be able to discuss and interpret the interdisciplinary potentials of the relationship between different areas and also to adapt to the architectural area
5   To be able to enhance creative ideas in design by using relationship between art and architecture with an experimental perspective.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lectures: Theoretical lectures will be given and powerpoint presentations will be made during the course.
Research and Design Excercises: Students will be expected to present their civilian publishing research about architecture both in texts and by powerpoint presentations. However, a design exercise or workshop will be practiced at the end of the term for developing the creative ideas of students.
Students must actively participate the courses all term.

Assessment Criteria

Exams covers the reading texts and presentations made during the theoretical part of the course. Assignments might be given in the light of group presentations and weekly discussions and prepared individually. In order to achieve the final exam, it is highly recommended to submit all assignments on time and regularly, and revise them with the guidance of the instructor. Group presentations require a collaborative effort. It is the group's responsibility to ensure that each group member contributes to the group work equally. Student participation will depend on, the student's attendance, the quality of student's responses to the questions during the course and the student's contribution to create a positive learning environment.

1. The participation of the %70 of the courses is mandatory.
2. Late submissions will be subject to a different evaluation.
3. All kinds of plagiarism will result in a disciplinary action.
4. Instructor might do quiz or exercises in the term. Their marks will be considered in the general average.
