Course Objective

To discuss the relationship of the discipline of architecture with other sciences and technological developments and to enable students to develop a future perspective

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understanding the relationship between architecture, science and technology in the historical process
2   Understanding the potential use of nature and nature-integrated systems in design area
3   To be able to discuss and interpret the relationship of scientific paradigms with architecture by following current developments
4   To be able to examine the relationship between nature and human in architecture within the framework of scientific and technological dynamics
5   To be ablo to understand, interprete and apply of the relationship of architecture with other disciplines, especially applied sciences, and the potentials of group work

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lectures: Theoretical lectures will be given and powerpoint presentations will be made during the course.
Research and Design Excercises: Students will be expected to present their research both in texts and by powerpoint presentations. However, a design exercise or workshop will be practiced at the end of the term for developing the creative ideas of students.
Students must actively participate the courses all term.

Assessment Criteria

Assignments might be given in the light of group presentations and weekly discussions and prepared individually. In order to achieve the final exam, it is highly recommended to submit all assignments on time and regularly, and revise them with the guidance of the instructor. Group presentations require a collaborative effort. It is the group's responsibility to ensure that each group member contributes to the group work equally. Student participation will depend on, the student's attendance, the quality of student's responses to the questions during the course and the student's contribution to create a positive learning environment.
