Course Objective

The objective is to inform the future architects about the folk architecture, which is the product of the public, to examine them since they enable the construction of better buildings through solutions they provide for universal problems and to introduce local and traditional architecture, from which lessons should be taken. To enable them to evaluate and comment on this issue.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to explain basic concepts and evaluations in relation to vernacular architecture, regional architecture, traditional architecture and Turkish houses.
2   Ability to explain and exemplify the Anatolian residence architecture in regional context.
3   Ability to compare the houses in different regions and settlements of Anatolia.
4   Ability to classify the Anatolian residence architecture in different aspects.
5   Ability to interpret the Anatolian residence architecture.
6   Ability to communicate a research about traditional architecture in visual, written and oral form by using up-to-date technology.

Informational aspect of learning outcomes (LO1) are measured by mid-term and final exam, while comprehension aspect (LO2, LO3) is measured by mid-term, final exam and assignment; application aspect (LO2) is measured by mid-term, final exam and assignment; analysis aspect (LO3) is measured by mid-term, final exam and class participation; evaluation aspect (LO4, LO5) is measured by final exam, assignment and class participation and LO6 is measured by assignment.
Evaluation regarding the class participation shall be determined by student's attendance, active participation in the discussions during the class and qualitative contribution in this context.
