Course Objective

The course aims to give information about building construction and organization. It includes three main components of a production system (Input, Process, Output), the features of the building construction process, the building construction systems/technologies, project life-cycle and project organizational structure, the objectives of an organization in building construction, feasibility studies for building projects, tendering and bidding procedures, project delivery methods, types of contracts for construction projects, certain procedures performed on construction site, construction site planning according to building construction technologies. Also, in this course it is given information about advanced construction technologies and the effects of technological innovations and strategic collaborations on building construction and organization.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understanding the principles of building construction organization
2   Understanding project life-cycle and project organizational structure, and the objectives of an organization in building construction
3   Understanding feasibility studies for building projects, tendering and bidding procedures, project delivery methods, types of contracts for construction projects, project planning and programming
4   Understanding construction site planning according to building construction technologies
5   Improving skills for monitoring technological innovations and advanced construction technologies.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course is taught in a lecture, research assignment, class presentation and discussion format. All class members are expected to attend and both the lecture and seminar hours and take part in the discussion sessions.
