Course Objective

The aim of the course is to investigate the structures of mega-structures characterized by adjectives such as tallest, largest, biggest, most efficient. The researches will be conducted as a literature review and the obtained information will be presented as homework.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To list the old and new seven wonders of the World and where they are as examples to ancient mega-structures.
2   To list the architects, countries they are in, year of construction and structure of megastructures.
3   To identify why the studied structures and buildings are mega.
4   To distinguish the problems encountered during the construction of mega structures.
5   To recall the practical methods that were developed to solve the problems encountered during the construction of mega structures (from foundation to roof construction).
6   Examine a mega building example and be able to present it to classmates
7   To prepare a scientific study on mega structures

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

At the end of each lesson, there will be a 10-minute kahoot quiz on the information learned in that lesson. The quizzes that appear as participation in the course and will continue for 10 weeks will be 10% effective. 1. Midterm exam (20% effective) will be held face to face at school. Assignment/Presentation is 20% effective. Half of this grade will be taken from the submitted assignment and the other half from the presentation. The final exam will be face-to-face and is 50% effective.
