Course Objective

This course aims to provide an overview of the relationship between the spatial structure of traditional homes across Anatolia and the social factors that might be built in them.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of the course, the students should be able to demonstrate the ability to classify different approaches to traditional homes.
2   At the end of the course, the students should be able to recognize the analytical principles beneath the surface appearances of traditional Turkish homes.
3   At the end of the course, the students should be able to summarise the spatial transformations in traditional Turkish homes through time.
4   At the end of the course, the students should be able to describe the space and gender relationships in traditional Turkish homes.
5   At the end of the course, the students be able to interpret the variability of houses across Anatolia in a historical context.
