Course Objective

Understanding Social Theory, defining and interrelating social processes and spatial forms, selecting actual researching issues and expressing them by forms of text/poster/movie are aimed in this Course.

5 Midterm Examination The midterm exam will be in the form of a short text submission in which the choice of the subject for the Term Paper, the context in which the subject takes place, the importance, purpose, methods and resources of the study are presented.
6 Discussions and criticis on Midterm Exam Paper (outline/fiction of assignment) Grouping of proposals made for semester work on a personal basis; opening the group title as a course subject and criticizing the proposals in this context will be done.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In the first four weeks the course is practiced by the forms of conference presentations. At the fifth week the issues and outlines of term assignments are cleared by the Students. Till the tenth week term assignments issues and outlines are argued and critisized. At the tenth week the drafts of the term assignments that developed according to criticis are delivered by students. Assignment drafts will be discussed and critical until the end of the term, and in this way, the final submission will be tried to be more refined

Assessment Criteria

With the Midterm Exam (delivered Outline/Fiction of the assignment) The comperhension level of Social Theory as a knowledge frame by the students (Comperhension), Defining the Social Proces and spatial forms by the students (knowledge), associating level of social processes and spatial forms by the students (analysis) are evaluated. This evaluation is made through the measurments below:
1. Whether the context in which the topic of study selected for the term paper is in a strong relationship with the topic of Social Theory and Space
2. Whether the aim, the importance, the method and resources of the study are expressed in explicit way

In the submission of the draft to be made in the 10th week of the term paper (assignment draft submission), in addition to the criteria valid in the midterm, analysis and application levels are evaluated by :
1. Whether the discussion and criticis' that made up to the tenth week are taking into account by the students
2. Whether the most appropriate form such as text / poster / film to express the subject is selected
3.The clarity and competence levels of the Language used by the writers


In the Final Submission of the term assignment, it will be evaluated on the basis of the whole semester, taking into account the level of development of the term study in line with the discussions and criticisms on both the midterm exam (outline / fiction of assignment) and the Assignment Draft.

The course will be continued in the form of conference presentations and discussions on semester work, with a reading list primarily based on current examples.
