Course Objective

This studio course introduces students to the fundamental knowledge and technical skills used by urban planners to create, research, analyze, and implement site-plans at the city and neighborhood level. The course covers and reviews all the required analytical and quantitative techniques for population, employment and areal land-use projections as well as site selection for development planning and site-planning.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Comprehend the required legal and administrative knowledge for planning process,
2   Produce all the required quantitative and qualitative information for the planning site,
3   Make site selection decisions for urban and rural land-uses and perform employment, population and areal land-use projections consistent with the master plan,
4   Interpret the planning site with its environment and make decisions on the site-plan with respect to the master plan proposals,
5   Meet the planning standards with planning decisions using all the available spatial, social, and economic data and information,
6   Calculate the requirements for the planning site,
7   Interrogate the adequacy of legal and administrative standards with regard to living standards,
8   Report the planning process.
