Course Objective

This course aims to describe the basic concepts of urban design, explain the techniques necessary to solve the planning and design problems in a slightly sloppy setting within an urban environment. Upon completion of this course the students are expected to develop necessary skills to design a 2 dimensional plan interpret the influence of this two dimensional plans on 3 dimensional real environments.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to plan and design taking into consideration the natural and artificial characteristics of land and the principles of the use of physical sources.
2   Ability to adopt planning and design principles that will improve the quality of life and meet the user needs at the urban design scale.
3   Ability of visual presentation (including the ability to process data through various techniques where hand-drawn and computer aided design techniques are used for achieving proper presentations; ability to represent different phases of planning and design including spatial analysis and synthesis ).
