Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to theoretically examine the subject of the Graduation Project by the student team, conduct literature research, make preliminary preparations for the project design, prepare a project report, and present and defend it in written and oral form. The Graduation Project Preparation course also aims to inform students about project preparation and management in order to prepare them for engineering life.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to use the knowledge and skills acquired in classes in the project studies
2   Having access to accurate information and appropriate resources for the project
3   To be able to design a complex system, a component of a system or a process
4   To be able to prepare and submit a project (including the work to be done, work-time sheet, contents of the work packages, necessary experiments, equipment needed, expected outcomes, criteria of success, and B plan) in order to carry out the Graduation Project work effectively
5   To be able to analyze the necessary process stages and parameters for the project topic
6   Ability to carry out project preparations by working as a team
7   To be able to examine the project topic by taking into account realistic criteria
8   Ability to effectively defend project preparation studies and results both verbally and in writing

Within the scope of the Pre-Graduation Project course, all information about what is expected from students, student evaluations, and application principles are provided on the Department website.

Assessment Criteria

Attendance to project meetings, completion of the weekly tasks and answers given to the questions in the meetings will be taken into account in the evaluation (Assignment grade).
At the end of the semester, each team will prepare a project proposal and project proposals will be evaluated by a designated committee (Project grade).
Project proposal oral resentations will be evaluated (Presentation grade).
The midterm exam will be an evaluation of the presentations made to students during the semester.
The basic knowledge of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering required for the Graduation Project course will be measured by the final exam.

Course Policies and Rules

Student must attend the weekly Project meetings, and they are expected to be well prepared for the discussions and completed the weekly tasks of the Project. The course is run accordingly to the rules of Graduation Project course of the department.
