Course Objective

To explain detailly basic physical properties of materials, to corrolate the physical properties and metallurgical processes by explaining the transformation mechanisms

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1	To express basic metallurgical thermodynamics concepts and terms
2	To indicate the importance of imperfections in crystal structures and their effect on material properties
3	To explain diffusion mechanisms through metallurgical processes
4	To explain the importance of surface and interface concepts and their effect on material properties
5	To understand the importance of solidification, nucleation, recrystallization and precipitation concepts in metallurgical processes
6	To explain diffusion and non-diffusion transformation mechanisms in metallurgical processes
7	To examine an academic or industrial study on metallurgical processes
