Course Objective

To give information about the electrical and magnetic behavior of materials, to explain the transmission mechanisms, to describe dielectric, ferroelectric, piezoelectric, pyroelectric, diamagnetism, paramagnetism, ferromagnetism, ferrimagnetism and antiferromagnetism properties and to give information about the working principle of devices containing electronic and magnetic materials.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To identify materials by classifying them according to their electrical properties
2   To comprehend electronic and ionic conduction mechanisms
3   To explain dielectric properties and types of polarization
4   To explain the ferroelectric, piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties
5   To list and describe the types of magnetism
6   To introduce devices using electronic and magnetic materials
