To give detailed information about coating and lamination methods and their end-products.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Definitions of coated and laminated textile materials
2 Textile materials that is used in coating, their advantsges and disadvantages; coating and lamination products.
3 Chemical materials used in coating: polymers and rubbers
4 Chemical materials used in coating: rheology properties, viscosity, adhesion and adhesives.
5 Chemical materials used in lamination: compounding resins and polymers
6 Pretreatment before coating: scouring, fixation etc. (technical trip)
7 Coating methods and machines: Direct coating
8 Midterm
9 Coating methods and machines: Foam coating
10 Coating methods and machines: Transfer coating, calender coating
11 Coating methods and machines: rotary-screen coating, cylinder coating
12 assignment presentations
13 Coating methods and machines: hot-melt coating, dip coating, other coating methods: flocking, yarn coating etc.
14 Lamination methods: flame lamination, IR heating lamination, hot-melt lamination
