Course Objective

To provide knowledge on the industrial problems of the knitting process and solutions for these problems, also to provide basic information on the warp knitting technologies and structures

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to relate knitting machine parameters with fabric properties and to recognize problems of knitting engineering and provide solutions
2   To comprehend the fabric formation on warp knitting machines
3   To design different warp knit structure by being able to distinguish one from other in terms of fabric properties
4   To choose appropriate machinery by recognizing different fabrics manufactured by using different machineries
5   To be able to choose the most appropriate warp knitted fabric and structure based on the intended application areas

6 Warp knitting; basics, knitting elements and machine parameters
7 Warp knitting; loop formation and patterning
8 Warp knitted fabric structures; single guide bar structures, properties and end uses
9 Warp knitted fabric structures; double guide bar structures, properties and end uses
10 Warp knitted fabric structures; multi guide bar structures, properties and end uses
11 Warp knitted fabric structures; spacer fabrics, plush fabrics manufacturing
