Course Objective

Teaching the weaving technique and woven fabric structures. Gaining the abilities to apply weaving technique, to solve weaving problems and to plan weaving production. Creating concepts on productivity and cost.

1 Introduction to woven fabric structure, historical development of weaving, properties and classification of woven fabrics.
2 Weaving preparation processes, introduction to weaving loom, basic motions of a weaving loom, fabric formation on the loom
3 Auxiliary motions of a weaving loom, practical work in weaving atelier
4 Representation of weaves on point paper, drafting, pegging and denting plans, basic weaves, application
5 Basic weaves, winding, weft winding, warp preparation, application
6 Sizing, shedding systems, tappet shedding motion, depth of shedding
7 Shedding types, eccentric cam design according to shedding type, dobby shedding motion
8 I.st Mid Term Exam
9 Introduction to jacquard loom, jacquard shedding system, jacquard calculations, double moving jacquard shedding mechanisms with double design cylinder
10 Picking systems, practical work in weaving atelier
11 Warp let off Systems, cloth take up systems
12 Weaving calculations, preparation of warps, application
13 2.nd Mid Term Exam
