Course Objective

Investigation of the national and international structure of apparel industry and company structures
in Türkiye are planned. In addition, the ordering process will be examined according order flow and
the technology and the working methods used in every stage will be introduced

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To recognize garment industry and to understand its importance in national and international trade.
2   To comprehend the work flow in ready-wear companies
3   To have knowledge about the studies and technologies being used in cutting department
4   To have information about seam and stitch types, sewing machines types and their application areas
5   To have information about ironing, fixation procedures and equipment being used in this field

1 Definition and historical development of ready-wear, The importance of ready-wear for Türkiye and its position in international trade
2 International trade, Trade restrictions, International delivery rules, International payment methods
3 The factors affecting the ready-wear industry, The structure of ready-wear companies, Work flow in ready-wear
4 Designing department, The technological means used in design process
5 Body types and body sizes, description of sizes and pattern measures
6 Marker picture, loss of marker picture, marker picture types and technologies used in
7 Spreading types, technologies technologies
8 Cutting process and the technologies used
9 Formation of stitches and stitch types
10 Seam types, sewing thread, seam quality
11 Classification of sewing machines, New developments of sewing machines
12 Elements that make up the sewing, needle, grasping, looper,shuttles, bobbin
13 Elements that make up the sewing, transport systems
14 Interlining, fusing machines, ironing and packing section and the introduction of technologies used
