Course Objective

To learn fundamental treatments, application methods, pretreatment, dyeing-printing and finishing processes

3   To learn calculation of amount of chemicals and add-on values based on application method
4   To learn textile finishing treatments (pretreatment, dyeing-printing, finishing)

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Genaral information about the course, definition of textile finishing. Introduction of finishing treatment, steps of finishing treatments. Application of textile finishing agents to textile materials and its methods.
2 Aim and fundamental of washing processes, washing chemicals and machines. Aim of drying processes, its machines and methods
3 Pretreatments of cotton products: Control, singeing, desizing, scouring etc. and evaluation methods for these processes,Lab:: Bleaching of cotton fabrics
4 Bleaching, optical brigthening asnd their evaluation techniques, Lab: Wettability measurment
5 Mercerization. Pretreatment processes of flax, regenerated cellulose and synthetic fibers. Lab: Determination of whiteness degree
6 Dyeing mechanism, processes and machines.
7 Dyesstuffs, Dyeing of cellulosic and wool fibers. Lab. Dyeing of wool materials.
8 Dyeing of wool fibers, Dyeing of synthetic fibers. Lab: Color measurment
9 Fundamentals, machines and methods of printing. Printing of cellulosic, wool and synthetic fibers. Lab:Dyeing of woolen fabrics.
10 Finishing of cotton products. Lab: Printing applications.
11 Finishing of cotton protucts. Lab: Finishing applications.
12 Finishing of wool products. Lab: Finishing applications.
13 Inovative methods in finishing treatments. Lab: Methods of finishing applications.
14 Finishing treatments of denim fabrics. Lab: Evaluation of finishing applications.
