Course Objective

The main objective of this course is the teach the fundamentals of metal forming, bulk metal forming, sheet metal forming, and mechanics of plastics forming, analysis of deformation and analysis of sheet processing of various loadings.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to apply the fundamentals of metal forming
2   Ability to examine the mechanisms of the interaction between dislocations and structural components (grain boundaries, point defects, precipitates, etc.)
3   Ability to interpret the factors affecting the metal forming
4   Ability to learn different metal forming processes (bulk deformation, sheet metal working)
5   Ability to solve plastic deformation problem by using package computer program

2 Metallurgical Fundamentals: crystal structure, dislocations, metal forming of mono and polly crystal materials,

5 Cold , warm and hot metal forming
6 Friction and Lubrication in metal forming
7 Bulk Deformation Processes; Rolling
8 Forging and Extrusion
9 Wire and Bar Drawing
10 Sheet metal forming: Dies and Presses for sheet metal processes
11 Cutting, Bending, Deep drawing and spinning
12 Non homogenous deformation at bulk deformation
13 Computer aided design and analysis in metal forming
14 Computer aided design and analysis in metal forming
