Course Objective

The objective of this course is to gain some general, experimental and theoritical knowledges about the mechanical behaviours of composites materials to students; and to develop the ability of them to solve problems in the field of mechanics of composite structures, especialy laminated composites.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to define composite materials and their application areas
2   Ability to calculate the mechanical properties of composites theoretically
3   Ability to determine the mechanical properties of composites experimentally
4   Ability to calculate and discuss the stresses occurred in laminated composites
5   Ability to design simple composite structures by using main failure criteria
