Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to give theoretical knowledge about Casting techniques, Forming processes, Welding processes and Machining subjects and to teach using of these techniques in industry by giving examples.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Teaching of casting methods and forming mould, model and core preparation.
2   Teaching of cast iron properties, microstructures and using areas according to their properties.
3   Teaching of destructive and nondestructive test methods
4   Teaching of plastic deformation concept, effected factors on plastic deformation
5   Teaching of plastic deformation methods (rolling, extrusion, wire drawing, tube drawing, deep drawing, forging etc.)
6   Teaching of electric arc, plasma and that properties and effect to force of electric arc.
7   Teaching of basic principles, methods and application areas of arc welding (coated electrode, MIG/MAG welding, TIG welding, Submerged welding and plasma welding) and pressure welding
8   Teaching of machining methods and tool materials

3 Centrifugal casting, plaster molding, Investment Casting, Continuous Casting, Iron casting, Finishing processes, Casting defects and controls, design of castings
4 Fundamentals of plastic deformation, Introduction of plastic deformation processes
5 Rolling, Forging and extrusion
6 Bar and wire drawing, Sheet metal forming
7 Classification of welding processes, electric arc welding
8 Welding electrodes, Manual Metal Arc Welding Process and electrod selection,Gas metal arc welding methods,
9 Gas welding, submerged arc welding methods
10 Pressure welding processes
11 Microstructure of welding, welding defects
12 Destructive and Nondestructive tests
13 Machining methods and tool materials
14 Machining methods and tool materials
