Course Objective

The purpose of the summer internship undergraduate courses provides opportunity observation to our students how to use their theoretical knowledge in the professional (mining) field. It is aimed to gain career experience for students who work as a mining engineer in underground mines and structures, open pit mines, mineral processing plants and drilling operations.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability introduce of using method, machine and equipment in underground mines/open pit mines/ore processing plants workings
2   Ability of connection between using methods in field-plant applications (practice) and knowledge in lesson (theory)
3   Ability of explanation with applications of planning, production, using methods and workings in field, plants and projects
4   Ability of explanation how to be used software related to mining engineering in field and plant workings
5   Ability to report the knowledge and talent obtained during field and plant experience

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Interoducing the company, field (open pit or underground mine), and ore processing plant, equipment, personnel
2 Orientation of production and projects studied during internship
3 Steps of ore processing and production organization that can be seen during internship
4 Preparation internship report, getting necessary information from related people and making necessray researches

Recomended or Required Reading

All kind of course notes can be used as a reference acccording to the type of the internship made. In addition, internet and library references can be used in preparation of internship report.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Observations made during the summer training period, prepared or implemented projects, photographs taken during field work and facilities, internship notes and internship report preparation.
