Course Objective

To orientate the students to the mining and mine resources, the activities and functions of mining engineers, the national and global mining industry.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students can explain the terminology and fundamental principles of mining engineering
2   Students can tell the main activities and functions of mining engineers
3   Students can describe the methods of underground and open pit mining
4   Students can explain the mineral processing operations and end-product properties required by the industry
5   Students have information about the major mining products being traded on regional and global markets
6   Students know the main properties and locations of major ore deposits

12 Overview of the national and world mining industry
13 Major mining products being exported by Türkiye
14 The properties and locations of major ore deposits

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Oral presentations will be used as the main teaching method. In addition, different mining methods will be demonstrated in laboratories using especially designed 3D models.
