Course Objective

The state-of-art methods and equipment used in mineral processing are introduced and recent developments are investigated. The objective is to ensure the students to learn theoretically and in practice the methods that are used in mineral processing, the evaluation of processing results, to be able to make metallurgical interpretations and develop the knowledge of the students over mineral processing techniques in order to make costs analysis.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to define the processing concepts
2   To be able to list the the properties of benefited minerals in mineral processing
3   To be able to distinguish the selection criteria between handpicking method, enrichment by gravity difference and the equipment used (heavy medium separation, separation by jigs, MGS, Falcon concentrator, spirals and cones)
4   To be able to distinguish and classify the magnetic separation methods
5   To be able to distinguish the electrostatic separation methods
6   To be able to conduct enrichment tests in the laboratory
7   To interprete the mineral processing results
