Course Objective

Therotical and practical principles of the light and identifiction of the rock-forming
minerals under polarizing microscope

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   understanding of the basic principles of the light and classification of minerals
2   Understanding of the general characteristics of the apaque and isotrope minerals
3   Understanding of the principles of the uniaxial and biaxial minerals under polarized light
4   Identificatiın of the optical properties of the minerals under polarized light
5   Identification of the minerals by polarizing microscope
