Course Objective

To teach drilling machines and equipment, drilling types and purposes, to choose appropriate methods and equipment according to geological applications and formation conditions, and to provide information about wellhead tests. To provide knowledge about professional law and permit processes in drilling activities.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To gain ability about drilling methods and techniques on every field of geological engineering works.
2   To learn choosing the drilling equipments for different applications such as, water wells, mineral exploration studies, site investigations, geothermal energy.
3   To be able to understand the geological formations by observing core and cutting samples
4   To have skill to design a borehole according to the depth, capacity and problems.
5   To be able to calculate the drilling costs according to borehole design and carry out professional law and permit processes in drilling activities.
