Course Objective

To teach the physical and mechanical properties of rocks that affect their applicability in aggregate, ballast and coastal engineering projects and to teach related standarts and techniques to determine these specifications.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To identify geological materials and their applications in engineering projects
2   To be able to classify aggregates according to their origin and applications
3   To know physical and mechanical properties, determination methods and related standarts for concrete aggregates
4   To know physical and mechanical properties, determination methods and related standarts for asphalt aggregates
5   To know physical and mechanical properties, determination methods and related standarts for ballasts
6   To know determination methods and related standarts for identification of hazardous materials in concrete and asphalt aggregates and ballasts
7   To know classifications of rocks that are used for determination of their usability for applications in coastal enginnering projects
