PROFESSOR DOCTOR GÜNAY ÇIFCI

Offered to

Geophysical Engineering

Course Objective

- To interpret seismic reflection and refraction data
- Correlarion of seismic sections
- To identify the seismic reflection sections geologically

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to analyze seismographs obtained from the seismic refraction and reflection data
2   Be able to identify the systematic noises such as random and multiple reflections which could be misleading in the seismic section interpretation
3   Be able to learn the basic principles of seismic stratigraphic interpretation and to get the skill to carry out evaluations along with these principles
4   Be able to determine the general structural features such as fault, syncline, anticline, sliding in the seismic sections
5   Be able to identify underground hydrocarbon deposits in the underground from the seismic sections
