Course Objective

In the scope of this course, it is aimed to define the stresses and strains developed under loads in solids. The aim is to determine the stresses and strains under basic load conditions. The internal forces are investigated under different load conditions. The safety of structural elements due to Elastic Theory is investigated. The structural elements are designed due to Elastic Theory. Engineering systems are analyzed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Have the ability to define the mechanical properties of solids.
2   Have the ability to define the stress and strain.
3   Have the ability to formulize the stress and strain under different load conditions for structural elements.
4   Have the ability to explain the assumptions and limitation of the developed formulas.
5   Have the ability to analyze the engineering systems under different load conditions, to compute the internal forces, stresses and strains, to determine the system safety or design a system.
