Course Objective

It is aimed to inform students about fundamental concepts of structural mechanics, on how to design a structural system, and about their load carrying properties, and calculation of geometric characteristics of sections.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learn about basic concepts of mechanics such as force, moment and equilibrium
2   Grasp the working mechanism of structural systems.
3   Design truss systems and learn the methods of analysis for them.
4   Calculate center of gravitiy and moments of inertia of sections.
5   Determine the internal forces in transversally loaded beams.
