Course Objective

The purpose of the summer internship is to provide our students with the opportunity to observe how the theoretical knowledge they learned in undergraduate courses is used in the field of practice. It is aimed to gain experience in business life and to find the opportunity to get to know the working methods of institutions with construction site and office internships.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to introduce the materials, equipment and machines used in construction site applications.
2   To be able to establish a relationship between the methods used in construction site applications and the knowledge gained in the lessons.
3   To be able to explain the work programs used in construction site productions and projects with examples.
4   To be able to explain how software related to Civil Engineering is used in office work.
5   Being able to report the knowledge and skills acquired during the construction site and office internship with an objective approach.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Recognition of the internship firm, construction site and/or office, equipment and personnel.
2 Follow-up and promotion of the projects and/or productions seen and worked on during the internship
3 Follow-up and promotion of the projects and/or productions seen and worked on during the internship
4 Follow-up and promotion of the projects and/or productions seen and worked on during the internship
5 Follow-up and promotion of the projects and/or productions seen and worked on during the internship
6 Preparing the internship report, conducting research on the subjects deemed necessary

Recomended or Required Reading

All lecture notes can be used as a source depending on the characteristics of the place
where the vocational internship is done. In addition, internet and library resources
can be used to write the internship report.

Observations made during the internship, projects prepared or implemented, photographs
taken during the construction site applications, internship notes and preparation of
the internship report

Assessment Criteria

Reporting the construction site and office work and presenting it to the internship commission
A pass/fail grade is given.

Course Policies and Rules

Necessary explanations and announcements are published on the Civil Engineering
Department Official Website. Attendance to the internship, delivery of the internship
report, preparation of the report according to the spelling rules and if necessary, the
invited student's oral presentation; are the minimum requirements for admission to the
internship.
