Course Objective

Within the scope of engineering education, knowledge related t mapping, geographic information systems and spatial location designs are used in many engineering branches, especially in geosciences.
General Physical Geography covers the basic knowledge and concepts of all these trainings. The aim of this course is to make students, who will use Geographical information Systems, Mapping and so on, learned with the basic definations and facts related to general physical geography.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   LO1. To be able to explain the subject and principles geography.
2   LO 2. To be able to explain the basic concepts and facts related to geomorphology and generaal characterictics of major land forms
3   LO 3. To be able to explain the basic concepts and facts related to hydrography and the general characterictics of water cycle, rivers, lakes, oceaan, ground water on earth.
4   LO 4. To beable to explain the basic concepts of map informations
5   LO 5. To be able to explain the basic concepts and the facts related to climatology and general features of climate in the world.
6   LO 6. To be able to explains the basic concepts and facts related to biogeography soil geography in general.
7   LO 7. To be able to use geographical knowledge in engineering

14 14. Mapping of information obtained from different enginnerng disciplines and comparisons. Oral and written presantations of the overall Project or Homeworks by the students and in virtual class discussion.
